Church Staff

Senior Pastor – Keith Switzer

“It was good to be in the house of the Lord this morning.”  Those words are often stated by our pastor Keith Switzer  at the conclusion of a worship service.  They seem to express not only his feelings about the Crestwood church, but ring true of the congregation’s feelings toward him. His sermons are thoughtful, personal and pleasant, but most of all inspiring.  Keith came to Crestwood United Methodist in 2009.  He says  the church has  an abundance of great resources and a bright future lies ahead.  He gives much credit to the many knowledgeable and dedicated workers who have many valuable programs and projects going strong. Keith says that his role as a pastor is to guide these many talents and assets toward a vital growing and welcoming church.  His efforts seem to keep God’s love alive and growing in the hearts of all those who know him and hear him preach.

Keith was awarded the James Brown Scholarship and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College right out of high school.  Upon graduation he proceeded to the Emory Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended Chandler School of Theology.  He was ordained in the Louisville Conference in 1982 and began his service to God as the associate pastor at First Methodist Church in Henderson, Kentucky.  Since that time he has successfully served in five other churches as well as a District Superintendent for three years. Keith and his wife Sherri were married in 1984 and are the proud parents of two sons and one daughter.  Just recently they have experienced the joy of having a second grandson added to their family.

Playing a round of golf is one of Keith’s favorite ways to relax. He is still striving for that always desired “hole in one.”  With his abilities (and the Lord’s help), it may not be too far away.

Valerie Keller Minister of Music/Worship Arts

Valerie Keller is not an unfamiliar face to Crestwood UMC. She served as Director of Music and Worship Arts from 2006-2009.  She and her husband, Brian have 2 daughters, Abby and Hallie.  Valerie holds degrees from Eastern Kentucky university, and the University of Louisville in piano performance and pedagogy and has spent most of her life in and around choral and contemporary music.   She volunteers each Summer at Loucon Training and Retreat Center http://www.loucon.org/ working with middle school students to help them deepen their walk with Christ while learning and performing a musical in a unique worship and camp setting.   At home, Valerie enjoys running, biking with Brian, yoga, and harvesting all the vegetables from their garden.
